July 2021 a protest organised by Cymdeithas yr Iaith at the Tryweryn dam. Llyn Celyn at Capel Celyn, the reservoir is synonymous with the flooding of the vllage Tryweryn to supply Liverpool with water. Protesters formed a line along the 600 metre long dam near Bala, Gwynedd.
The rally followed the Welsh Governments announcement that it will consult and develop a pilot in order to tackle the effects of high house prices on communities and the Welsh language.
The proposals were branded by language campaigners Cymdeithas yr Iaith as “vague and uninspiriing” and the latest example of the government remainingcomplacent while there is a crisis in the housing market across Wales”.
